Drs David Sweeney and his wife Dr. Rachael Sweeney both graduated from New England College of Optometry in Boston in 1997. They opened their own practice InSight Your Vision Source! on Roswell Road January 2002. They are members of Georgia Optometric Association and American Optometric Association (AOA). Most of their free time is spent with their four young children.
Dr. David Sweeney grew up in Toronto Canada. He was a member of the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Summer Olympic sailing teams. Currently, he is a member of the AOA Low Vision Section and he lectures on how Low Vision Rehabilitation can help those persons who are visually impaired from eye diseases such as macular degeneration and diabetes. Dr. David Sweeney is also a member of the AOA Cornea and Contact Lens Section and pursues an interest in specialty contact lenses to correct presbyopia, keratoconus, and astigmatism. He completed his optometric training at VA Fresno, Bethesda Naval Hospital, VA Baltimore/Johns Hopkins Medical Center and Martha Elliot Community Health Center in Boston.
Rachael Sweeney, OD
Dr. Rachael Sweeney grew up in Halifax, Canada and was in the same 1997 graduating class as her husband Dr. David Sweeney at the New England College of Optometry in Boston. She is a member of Georgia Optometric Association and American Optometric Association (AOA).
Her interests include sailing, skiing and scuba diving. She has a special interest in pediatric eye care and vision therapy. She completed her training at VA Fresno, VA Manchester, Andrews AFB, and East Boston Community Health Center.
Jeffrey Mellom, OD

newest doctor, Jeff Mellom. Dr. Jeff Mellom is well-known in Atlanta for his
skillful, thorough, and compassionate care. He brings over 25 years of eye care
expertise to the practice.
In 1984, Dr. Mellom received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Ferris State
University after attending Valparaiso University for his undergraduate diploma.
He possesses a keen interest in highly advanced contact lens technology and
Lasik procedures. As a Lasik recipient himself, he understands the surgery
first hand. Dr. Mellom also practices optometry in his Canton, GA satellite
office.
Dr. Mellom is thrilled to begin his partnership with Doctors David and Rachael
Sweeney and their knowledgeable staff. He commented, "InSight utilizes
state-of-the-art-equipment and provides patients with unsurpassed, expert eye
care."
When not hard at work, Dr. Mellom cherishes time with his wife, Stephanie, and
their two young children. He also enjoys a great round of golf.
